Thnx 4 this info! i knew that Filmfare award started in '50s but no idea about these categorical awards...
A nice (& may b needed!)shift frm comic-duniya to filmi-duniya... congrats!!
But plse post "current" filmi informations with those golden era of '60,'70s as well...we need info. abt our own(means current) stars/directors etc....
do u know that 1954, SD Burman got the award for taxi driver as best composer but not for the entire film but for the song.. jayen to jayen kahan...
i wud like to correct you about the year,, the award for the year shud be 1953... and so on... for the films released in 1953, awards were given in 1954
ooops one more info....
bimal roy made a hat trick by getting the best director award in 1956 for the film "devdas"... ( for those who don't look beyond mr sharukh khan and Co... I would like to tell you that.. there was also a film called "devdas " directed by great great bimal-da and a great, perhaps the greatest actor called Dilip kumar acted in it..and before that, there was one more Devdas of great kundan lal saigal
sorry frind, see this is my touchy and senti subject, and i love this subject more than anything else, even reading indrajals.. so plz bear with me
#ICC:Thanks for your interest shown and information shared with us,you are always welcome for any length of discussion you wish to as this subject is also one of my favorite and collecting film history with information updation is what i looks for.
Yeah, the award were distributed for the films released in the previous year of the distribution year, here by year we mean the year in which awards were distributed and will follow the same chronology.
Yes indeed Bimal Roy made a hat trick by winning the 3rd consecutive best director award in 1956 but i would like to correct one fact that in 1956 he won the best director award for the film "Biraj Bahu" not for the 'Devdas' as Devdas was released in 1956 and award for it was won by Dilip Kumar in 1957.
Lastly once again thanks for your inputs..we will be looking more from you on regular basis.
yes , i made a mistake, he won it for biraj bahu, and next year he did not win because v shantaram won it for jhanak jhanak... and that was the award year (1957)when vaijaynti mala refused the supporting actress award in the protest of not considering her for the best actress award, eventually nutan won it for Seema
Shankar jaikishan won their first out of nine awards for chori chori. lata was supposed to sing "rasik balama from the same film for the award function, but she refused to sing at the last moment.. she kept saying that because of her and manna dey they got the award, and that time there wasn;t any award for playback singers...
by the way, filmfare award has very bad history of giving an award to wrong person... there were lots and lots of manipulations , mostly made by shanker jaikishan with the help of mr, taraknath gandhi, media person
sj won best music for "dil apna aur preet parai" instead of Naushad's "mughal e azam"
they won again for "suraj" instead of SD'd "guide"!!!! i cant imagine suraj winning the award instead of guide
last but worst case was in 1972 when ghulam mohd's pakizah did not win beacuse of sj's beimaan!!!!! what a shame... does anybody remember a song from beimaan?
lot more is there,, next time
Yes Filmfare awards didn't have history of fair nominations and this tradition is still going on but since Filmfare awards were first of their kind and the oldest of any other thus they catch the attraction of common cinegoers.
Shankar Jaikishan popularly known as S-J in fimi circle were the main manipulators of the said award. There are many incidents when instead of deserving candidate some other 'bought' the honour..this is the reason why Aamir khan doesn't participate in the distribution ceremony of Filmfare
one more suggestion,,, put only relevant pictures.. plase dont put deewar in front of 1954 awards..
Yeah,i will be soon organizing it in a more appropriate manner.
Dear Friend,
Dilip Kumar won the best actor award two times in a row FOR THE SAME FILM!!! REALLY? You would make me crazy.
Plus BOBBY ( i think that is the poster of the film)between 1956-57 doing???
Its not that big a task, to make so many mistakes. I believe...
#Anon:Thanks for pointing out the mistake, its rectified.Friend this blog is under renovation, soon you will be viewing it in correct format.
nice info...keep updating more frequently...
You were not aware of the popularity of SJ at that time. Every year they had minimum og 5-6 movies and all the songs were so popular they were the tops in Binaca Geet Mala. I remember on one occasion out of around 18 songs played 15 were of SJ.
I do agree with you on the Film Fare award for 1972. Pazekah should have got, but Beimaan was the hit for that year….and who does not remember the Rakhi Bandhan song
If you think that way -- SJ should have got for JisDesh Mein ganga Baheti Hai---- where Ravi for Gharana got, Similary for Sangam SJ should have got instead of LP.
